Question: How long does a custom website design project normally take?
Answer: The length of the project depends on your requirement, and how quickly you are able to respond to our requests for feedback. A website design project where the client typically responds to our inquiries quickly wil normaly take about 2 weeks on average. This can vary depending on the type of changes you desire to make during the revision process.
Question: How does the custom web design process work?
Answer: There process is actually very simple:
- Once you submit payment for the project, we will provide you with a questionnaire that will ask some very simple questions like - What is the site to be used for, what colors do you like/don't like, sample websites you like, etc.
- Once you return the form to us, we will prepare a "website mockup" for your approval. A mockup, is simply a picture that we show you. Based on your feedback, we do revisions of the mockup until you are satisfied with the design.
- Once you are satisfied with the design, we will convert the page into a live webpage.
- Once he web page is converted, we will make all of the necessary pages for the site.
- During this time, we can add your website content if available to the layout.
- Once all the revisions are done, we upload the website to the server and your website is live.
Question: How many revisions am I allowed with my website?
Answer: For the standard package, 3 revisions are allowed, so be sure to include all of the changes you want during this process. If you need more revisions, we can do so for an additional fee (this rarely ever happens).
Question: When do I need to have my content ready? Do I need it before we can start?
Answer: When your content is added depends on you. Most often, people do not have their content ready until during the design phase or after the design is actually complete. We provide a content management system for a small fee if desired, so that you can add/remove your content from the site without any intervention from us.
Question: What if i need help with my content?
Answer: We have a great partner who can help write your content. Pagesmith provides discount services to our clients. Check out the available services here:
Question: I want to accept Credit Cards on my website. How do I make this happen?
Answer: There are two ways to process payments on your website. One is paypal, the other is with a full blown Merchant Account. To process payments via your website, you need a payment gateway like Authorize.net to process the payments and route the money to your bank account. We can help you get set up with a merchant account that is compatible with our web services. Visit our merchant account page to learn more.
Question: Why is the cost for Pre-Built Design Customizations so high if the design layout is already created.
Answer: This is a very common question. Although the initial design is created, our staff has to customize the design to meet your requirements. Changing menus, creating pages, adding additional pages and other customizations. Selecting a prebuilt design does not negate this work. It simply reduces the amount of work that needs to be done during the initial design phase of the project. With the first step of the initial design already completed, it allows us to offer our customization service at a lower rate than our 100% custom design, but every other step is the same between customizing a pre-built design and a 100% custom design.
Question: Why do I have to pay a monthly fee once the website design is complete?
Answer: Think of it like you and your house. Without your house, your have no where to live. Your website is the same way. Your website needs a home, because once we design it, it has to have a place to live. We create a home for your website on our server. Your website lives on our server each month, and you pay a monthly fee to us while your website lives on our server.
Question: Why do I pay an annual fee? I already pay you for the server space i use.
Answer: The annual fee is for your website address. Unless you pre-pay for multiple years, your website address will expire. Think again about the house. If there is no address on your house, how can anybody find you? The mailman wouldn't know where to deliver your mail! The annual fee that you pay is for the use of your website address. These fees are necessary if you wish to have a website online.
Question: Once I have a website, how will people find me?
Answer: The days of build it and they will come are gone. You will need to market your website, similar to how you market your business. We have a website marketing service that can help. Visit our website marketing page to learn more.
Question: I want to work with someone directly on my site. Why can't I work directly with the designer?
Answer: In order to keep prices affordable, we have a special team that works directly with you on your requirement to answer the questions you might have about your design. If we were to allow the designers to spend time in direct contact with the clients, it would slow down the process and increase the expenses associated with the project. Based on our experience, we have created this streamlined process so that we can provide you with the best website design possible at the best cost.
Question: Why can't I just tell you my changes on the phone?
Answer: We require all website changes to be submitted in writing on our forms. That way there is no chance of confusion or mis-communication on your requirements. Having the requirements in writing also makes it easier for you and our team to refer back to when reviewing the project.
